Aug 20 – Kafunta Three Rivers Camp, South Luangwa National Park, Zambia

More safaris today.  Not everyone went but we had good safaris with many animal sightings.  Pretty much the same animals as we have seen before.  We did see a couple of new birds.

Elephants

With a Saddle-Billed Stork in Front

Hammerkop (they build huge nests)

Red Capped Robin Chat

These bushes are very interesting.  They are called the Scrambled Egg Plant as the clusters of yellow flowers look a bit like scrambled eggs.

We also saw a fair amount of animal skeletons.  Much more than usual.  The bones were usually scattered by the scavengers to you couldn’t really see “the animal”.

Our bungalow has a connected, outside platform with a bed for sleeping under the stars.  We decided to sleep out here tonight.  The bed had lots of warm blankets and a massive mosquito net around the bed.  Fortunately, the hippos weren’t too vocal during the night.  Unfortunately, there was a full moon tonight, so we didn’t see many stare.
