We spent the morning working in the hotel. After lunch, our guide picked us up and we went back to see the Queen’s Palace. No photos were allowed within the palace. Also, no onions, goats, or pigs.
The palace is a wooden structure that later had a stone outer structure built around it for protection. And there were lovely gardens around the palace.
This structure had a wide veranda encircling the palace.
And being high on the hill we had great views from the palace veranda.
Later they took us back to the airport for yet another flight, this time to Nosy Be in the far northwest coast of Madagascar.
We arrived on
time, around 8:00pm, but there was no transfer waiting for us. After a few calls and some help from a man
who appeared to be the airport’s "taxi dispatcher", we took a taxi to the lodge. Turns out, there had been a transfer waiting
for us, along with another couple. The
other couple were out of baggage claim first so the driver piled them into the vehicle
and away they went. Leaving us behind.
This was
explained to us once we were at the lodge.
The driver came up and apologized profusely, through an
interpreter.
We skipped
dinner as we had a small sandwich on the plane.
And settled into our large cabin.
