Oct 13 – Back in Antananarivo and overnight in the Quarters for the Consulate of Monaco

The departure time for our flight back to Tana was changed (almost all our flight times have changed on this trip).  We checked out of the room at noon, thinking we had a couple of hours for a leisurely lunch before we had to leave for the airport.  But, no.  They had packed us sandwiches for lunch and we were to leave immediately for the airport…the flight was leaving two hours earlier than previously listed on the itinerary.

So off to the airport we went.  After checking in to this small airport we ate our sandwiches and shortly after we were on our way to Tana.

Our pickup was waiting for us and we headed out to our new hotel.  This one is really a guest house and a bit unusual.  There appeared to be a half dozen or so rooms on the first floor.  The second floor had the dining room and the “living room”.  The floors above were living quarters for members of the Consulate of Monaco.

When we arrived in the dining room there was a table set for 2 that was occupied and a table for 4 with two empty seats.  Those would be for us.  The couple at our table was a young couple from Hong Kong.  We had a nice visit with them.

There was no menu for dinner.  They brought us a nice pumpkin soup as a starter.  Dinner was a large plate with various steamed and grilled vegetables.  From comments by the chef it appeared she wasn’t too familiar with cooking for vegetarians…so plain old vegetables it was.  But they were good.

There was a wonderful, very rich molten chocolate cake for dessert.  We were happy.  Then it was off to bed.  Didn't take any photos here.  Too bad.
