Sep 4 – To Victoria Falls Zimbabwe and the Falls

Mid-morning we headed off for the 20+ minute drive to the nearby airstrip for our flight back to civilization and the town of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

After settling into our rooms, we went to the veranda restaurant for lunch.  The avocado and chicken Mary had was huge.  And very tasty.  The chocolate brownie was really more of a cake.  But still good.

Paul and Tara walked over to Victoria Falls from the hotel.  The Zimbabwe side of the falls has much more water than the Zambia side where we had seen the falls a week earlier.

At the falls there was a statue of David Livingstone, who is credited with discovering the falls (of course, the locals knew of it all along but nothing is discovered until Europeans find it).

The Victoria Falls Bridge.

Besides the falls they saw some pretty flowers and a fruit tree of some sort.  Type unknown.

Even in town there is wildlife to see.  They saw banded mongooses while on their walk.

Meanwhile, back at the hotel, Mary was visited by a vervet monkey that inspected the room through the window.

That evening we went to the Jungle Junction restaurant at the hotel so that we could see the dinner show.  Lots of drummers and lots of dancing.  Very nice.
