Oct 17 – 25 – The Queen Mary

We were in the hotel lobby about 9:00am and were on Cunard’s bus to Southampton by 9:15.  We arrived in good time to the cruise termina.  Unfortunately, we had to stand in line for about an hour before the port’s security opened, allowing us to go through to security and on to the boat.

We got our luggage almost immediately, got settled in and then headed up to King’s Court for lunch.

Mary was pretty stoked.  One of her favorite sandwiches from her childhood is the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich...a staple of the Midwest where she comes from.  And they are almost impossible to find outside of the Midwest.  However, at lunch they had breaded pork cutlets.  Not quite the same but close enough.

We did very little on this voyage.  We hit a few lectures, including several about Cunard’s history, and ate too much.

Paul caught a cold and was under the weather for a couple of days but it turned out to be a pretty mild cold.
