Tara and Paul headed out early morning for a three plus hour safari to the Nxai Pan National Park. Mary opted to stay at the camp.
Much of the drive was on sandy, deeply rutted roads. Another African Massage.
Some interesting trees seen along the drive.
They saw a lot of smoke in the distance. Likely farmers burning off their fields. This is very common here.
A tree with many weavers nests.
There were some animal sightings along the way. The most exciting sighting was of an oryx. We had not seen this antelope before. It is a gorgeous and majestic animal.
Scenes within the Nxai Pan park.
The Nxai Pans contains a vast salt pan.
The primary purpose of this safari was to visit an iconic grove of baobab trees. The grove and the individual trees were fascinating and very photogenic, resulting in lots of photos. And Paul and Tara both felt it was well worth the drive.
This is the seed pod of a baobab tree.
