Took a quick snap at the hotels pool...
and a quick snapshot of our first coca cola in Madagascar. All the other colas were World Cola.
First thing on the 3rd was a flight to Tana. We got to Tana too early to check into the hotel, so the guide took us to a vanilla shop. We got there during the presentation of how they grow vanilla. We picked up some vanilla powder. Mary will try it during cooking, once we get home.
Then it was to
the hotel where we checked in and had lunch.
Once in the hotel we both pulled out our computers to work. The hotel had a very long shelf/desk and two
chairs that allowed us to work. We both
got a lot done.
This warning sign was on the desk at our hotel. Looks like they take hotel thefts very seriously.
On the 4th we were to catch a morning flight to Fort Dauphin. Unfortunately, it was rescheduled to 4:00pm, so we had the morning to work.
We got to the
airport on time and checked in with no problem.
However, it turns out they had problems with the plane and we didn’t take
off until a little after six. We didn’t
land in Fort Dauphin until very late.
By then we had
already heard from the travel company that they would put us up in a nearby hotel for
the night. It was a 3 hour drive to the resort and it was really too late to make the drive. The hotel was lovely
but we were only there about 10 hours.
Didn’t even eat a meal there.
