Aug 24 – Livingstone and a Helicopter Flight over Victoria Falls, Zambia

First thing this morning we had another visit by the mother elephant and her calf.  They are tucked away here between a couple of the cabins.

We left our lovely camp early this morning for a drive to catch our bush plane.  Along the way we saw this elephant trying to pull limbs down from high in the tree.

We were headed to the Jeki air strip to catch our small plane to Livingston.

The "sign" on the roof of the bathroom building.

On the plane.

Our small plane at the Livingstone airport.

In Livingstone we settled into the large hotel on the Zambezi River, had lunch and were soon headed out for our first adventure here…a helicopter ride.

The ride took us over the Zambezi River…

and spent time circling the great Victoria Falls.  It is late in the dry season so the falls were only partially running.  But what was running was beautiful and impressive.  We need to come back right after the rainy season so that we can see the falls in full force.

During the flight we saw a number of elephants below.
