We both picked up colds on the crossing and were pretty sick. So, we landed in St. Louis, MO, then drove up to Keokuk and got a hotel room instead of staying at John’s as originally planned. We were feeling better by Tuesday and headed out to Dale’s where we spent part of the day visiting with him, Carol and John. We had lunch at the Hamilton Family Restaurant (or Ham Fam for short) and then headed back to the hotel.
It is fall here and while the fall colors weren't in full display it was still a pretty drive along the river.
On Wednesday, we all, including Dan and Theresa, met for dinner at an Italian restaurant in Keokuk.
On Thursday we headed back to St. Louis and caught a plan for Vegas. Jessica picked us up that evening and we were home and in bed soon after. We both still have the colds and they lingered for several more days.
We spent almost three and a half months on the road and saw wonderful sights and had wonderful experiences. Unfortunately, the colds weren't the best way to end a great trip.
